Many souvenirs emerge by just mentioning the “Concours provincial de français”. Over
one thousand boys and girls from each corner of the province have participated in
this event from 1938 to 1971. Today they are active in every walk of life. The “Concours
de français” was an institution, a training school for over thirty years. With the
support of its founder Robert Gauthier, the author recalls all aspects of this provincial
competition. A chapter offers a mini biography of Gauthier and appendices provide
lists of every contestant and every laureate, from 1938 to 1971.
