Gilles Renaud becomes a teenager in 1963. He lives in a small catholic village near
Windsor, Ontario (where the author was born). Gilles discovers The Beatles, Jacques
Brel, Adamo and many American TV soaps such as I Love Lucy, Father Knows Best and
The Andy Griffith Show. At school he is bullied by a cowboy student who constantly
calls him “sissy”. A substitute teacher will help him to be proud of who he is, no
matter if this means a different sexual orientation.
