This book is the first ever historical account of the gay liberation movement in Canada. The first chapter deals with social acceptance of homosexuality through the prism of the Canadian legislation from 1869 to 1969. This is followed by a detailed description of all gay groups across the country. One chapter is centered on the advocacy strategies at the national level, namely by the National Gay Rights Coalition, and another deals with police repression.
